Who is the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT)?

As an international competence center for automotive technology and mobility, we have a formative research and coordination role for the Allianz and the market. Our vision is to contribute to a safe, sustainable, and affordable mobility. We are therefore an important part of the Allianz Group and help to ensure that the company is at the forefront of technological development in the motor insurance industry.

With an interdisciplinary team of experts, we work on the topics of safety and prevention, sustainability, e-mobility, autonomous and assisted driving, vehicle data and IT security as well as repairability and cost of ownership. As a trend scout, a designer for guidelines and standards, a communicator with the industry and public, as a trainer and as a service provider AZT takes an active role in social responsibility and contributes to improved insurability and processes in motor insurance.

To this end, AZT offers consulting services for car manufacturers, carries out crash tests and accident research projects, publishes studies on road safety and offers a wide range of expert training measures. With a wide range of options for accessing and evaluating accident data, our own crash track, our body shop with paint shop and our training auditorium AZT has the relevant preconditions.

In addition to various crash projects with OEM, AZT’s most recent project results include studies on repair costs for electric vehicles and sustainable repair, i. e. “repair vs. replace” and “used parts” in accident repair, as well as a report on the topic of driver distraction in modern vehicles.

Research results are often produced in close cooperation with our customers and partners, such as OEM, other parties from the automotive industry, universities, associations such as GDV (German Insurance Association), VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry), VDIK (Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers e.V.) or networks of experts and repairers.
